About The Survival Tribe
I think I am qualified to give advice about survival and self-reliance, considering I was born into an alternative lifestyle which revolved around these two subjects.
My mother (Violet) has always been one to think outside the square and has passed this attribute onto both me (Wolf) and my sister (Fuchsia).
My father had spent most of his unmarried life living in the forest earning a living as trapper so he was more than happy to have an alternative thinking family!
My introduction to self-reliance began at a young age.
At age seven I was given my first Tomahawk and I had great pride in cutting the kindling every day for the wood range.
My mother let me have it on one condition; that I count my fingers before going out to the chopping block and as long as I had the same number when I came back inside then I could keep the Tomahawk.
A large part of my childhood was spent tending my little veggie garden which was right beside mother’s massive garden that has kept us fed all year round with all manner of veggies.
I spent most of my summer months living in a tent on our property and setting traps for rabbits (and the odd the wild cat).
I never caught many rabbits but that changed once I was old enough to learn how to shoot!
All of our meals were cooked on the woodstove year round and still are today.
That was another skill I mastered at seven!!!
I learnt a hell of a lot about food preservation and storage from Violet as she is an avid canner, so much so that it is almost an addiction!
I’m not kidding!!! Every year we have at least 500 jars of fruit from our orchard and about 400 jars of assorted veggies.
Yeah, the storeroom is a sight to behold!!!
Being home-schooled my sister and I had the privilege to look at life from a different point of view.
Instead of being fed the State’s doctrine, we were able to form our own INFORMED beliefs and opinions through thorough research and common sense.
We had a very fun, educational and prosperous childhood.
Growing up on a remote small farm gave us a massive “playground” and we utilised this opportunity to the full.
I have many fond memories of spending my day building “camps” with my friends in the scrub at the back of property.
Even though it was only a hundred or so metres from the house but to a kid that was a long way!!
Yes it is safe to say that we never had a dull moment in our lives.
With the world crapping out the way it is, we (Wolf, Violet and Fuchsia) have decided it was time to start a site of our own, giving practical advice.
We needed a catchy name and considering we are a close knit unit we decided the title “The Survival Tribe” suited us well.
Combining all of our knowledge we aim to create a comprehensive survival reference guide for everyday people to look up whenever they need to.
